Introduction to archaeology, terminologies in archaeological methods, goals and objectives of archaeological research, and importance of archaeology in understanding the past.


DAY TWO

[September 21, 2024]

Module II: Pre-Exploration Practices

Introduction to archaeological exploration, pre-exploration practices, methods and techniques of archaeological exploration.



DAY THREE

[September 22, 2024]

Module III: Exploration Practices

Challenges and ethical consideration in archaeological exploration, cultural resource management, post-exploration practices, and future directions in archaeological exploration.



DAY FOUR

[September 28, 2024]

Module IV: Pre-Excavation Practices

Introduction to archaeological excavation, site selection and planning, excavation technique, and excavation process.

DAY FIVE

[September 29, 2024]

Module V: Excavation Practices

Post-excavation analysis, archaeological dating method, preservation and conservation, post-excavation practices, and future directions in archaeological exploration.


DAY SIX

[October 05, 2024]

Module VI: Classification and Documentation

Introduction to classification, classification and documentation of the artefacts, and issues and solution pertaining to classification.


DAY SEVEN

[October 06, 2024]

Module VII: Archaeometry

Introduction to archaeometry and its evolutionary importance in archaeological research, and overview of the interdisciplinary nature of archaeometry.


CERTIFICATE

The participants will be provided certificates on successful completion of the course. It is mandatory for all participants to attend all the classes (or sessions).



RESOURCE PERSONS

Sessions in the courses will be taken by faculties from universities like University of Delhi, MSU Vadodara, University of Kerala, Central University of Karnataka, etc..
